I am honored to bring this website to you, the People of the Village of Alamgir. I want all the people of the Village to be able to participate in making this the best site in India! Please feel free to participate in this site wherever you can, but I strongly urge you to read the Use and Privacy notices before you do so that there are no surprises for you! In order to keep the site user friendly and prevent any security risks from occuring, all information that you wish to post will have to be sent to the webmaster@alamgir.org so that it can be approved by the website team prior to being published here. This step is being taken for your security.

Since your contributions are coming from an overseas location, every word, every picture, every video is subject to intercept and analysis by the US government.. I would not want your personal beliefs to be used against the site or against you, so I am taking this step to protect everyone. The world we live in today makes these type of precautions necessary and I hope that you all understand what I mean by this.

If you have any questions about this policy or the procedures that need to be followed, please read the Use and Privacy pages and if these do not help, the do not hesitate to email me so that I can try to explain it better.

Now that this information has been passed forward to you, I want to take a moment to tell you that I am participating on this site in honor of a good friend of mine who has asked to remain anonymous. He is a native son of Alamgir and now lives in the U.S. It was his hope and dream that this site would materialize in such a way that his Village could participate in the digital age and bring the family histories together in one place to be displayed with pride and honor.

It is my hope that you will not be discouraged by the realities of monitoring by governmental agencies and instead look to this site as I have and as my friend has. This site is for you Alamgir, it is for the People of Alamgir to share their stories, their common bonds and their common hopes for the present and the future. I promise you that you will be glad that you participated in this kind of endeavor when it is underway, because you will be given that rarest of opportunities to see how much you all have in common with each other, and how much your community means to each of you.

I am looking forward to bringing your Village to life with your photos and movie clips and I hope that you enjoy these pages for many years to come. Thank you.

What this site needs to be successful is your stories, photos and videos! Send me your family history, your family favorites from the photo albums and your short videos and I will create a "family page" just for you! This page will contain a short biography of your family as well as the photos and videos that you send in.

When you send in a photograph, always be sure to number the photo to make it easier to reference it. All of your photos should have a one or two line caption telling the viewer what is in the photo and what was going on. If the photo is something historical in nature, please include the date it was taken.

When you send in your family story, please make sure that you submit your information in English as it will only be published in English on this site. All submissions should include contact information via mail and telephone whenever possible so that the information can be verified if necessary.

We can help you with some of the work if you need to have your photos cleaned up. Just send them to us and we will do our very best to make them look their very best!

If you have videos you would like to share, please upload them to youtube.com first and then I can download them from there. If the video needs any restoration work, we will do what we can to make it better.

I promise that your materials will always be treated with honor and respect. You can rest assured that I will do my best to make your photos, videos and history look its very best.
